Working With Individuals And Families In Los Angeles And Surrounding Areas

Divorce, child custody, child support and spousal support are all hot button issues. During divorce proceedings, emotions run high and it may feel like reasoning with your spouse or partner is an impossible task. You need a lawyer who understands the process of family law, the impact a divorce will have on you and how to apply the law to your case.

At the Law Offices Of Karen P. Donahoe, the philosophy of our family law firm is that in order to represent clients effectively, we have to be able to represent all of our clients’ needs. We view your whole situation and educate you on the process of divorce and how it applies to your life. We will show you how different decisions may impact your future and lay out a roadmap for you to follow as we work together to bring your case to what we hope will be a swift and amicable conclusion.

Family Law Mediation

An individual going through a mediation process should consult with an experienced family law attorney. The mediator should be a neutral individual. Before you go into a mediation setting, you should have an understanding of your rights and a reasonable outcome. A family law attorney can consult with you outside of the mediation process and educate you, or alternatively the attorney can attend the mediation with you as part of the mediation process. Either way, mediation can provide you and your spouse with a more comfortable and nonadversarial setting for resolution of your issues, all of which can be addressed during a mediation session. If the mediation process is not an option, perhaps due to your spouse’s unwillingness to pursue a reasonable outcome, litigation remains an option.

Many couples find they can work portions of their divorce settlement out in mediation; other issues need to go to court. We will work tenaciously to resolve your case to your advantage, however your case proceeds.
